How many books have you read in 2010?

Me, I've read 643 so far, but it's been a slow couple of weeks.

but that page was 8 feet by 10 feet, printed in 12-point Courier.

A couple of political books and several books on Renaissance art (which I am researching at my leisure during retirement).

If so, quite a few.

all ok, I know the sis and brother inlaw of gudenkauf so I read it because of them but it was decent.

Devils punchbowl by iles was first of his books that i read and for what it is its good.

Darkness take my hand by lehane is one of his Patrick Kenzie novels (Gone Baby Gone) and it's very good. I like the kenzie books

Under the Dome, am an unabashed King fan, this one is ok but felt the story could have gotten over much sooner and with much less death. that was crazy

Generally, 2-4 books a week.

By the end of the year, I should be through another nine or so, lol. :D

"A Murder Is Announced" - that's pretty good for me, lol, two books per month.

Most are fiction, with some what I call historical fiction - based on real history but fictional characters (e.g. war novels)

Read much more in the winter than summer, I like to be outside as much as possible, but I'm not into prowling around in the dark . .

NON-fiction? - not so much, maybe 1 to 2 per month.

I'm off the grid, with only a generator that I use maybe 2-3 hours a day - some days not at all - so reading fills in my time.

I was an avid reader as a kid - did all the Hardy boys, Nancy Drew books - Jack London was another favorite from my youth - don't remember much else author-wise.

Finally feel "caught up."

I work too much to get more in.

I liked Lullaby and Haunted. Didn't care a whole lot for Choke.

I'm on page 56. This year is going to be all about focus.

Twilight, I'm not reading anymore.....

I'm going to reread The Dark Tower, or the Black Company series next...I'm very tired of reading so/so mediocre books.

I've been busy with work and a lot of family complications (parent's health, etc), so not as many as usual.

Man, I feel like a slacker.

It'll be up over 110 once I finish the behemoth that is "Moby Dick" and a few other things.

I'm a slow reader, but in fact, this tally is larger than any past year. So I'm really pushing myself.

...Brian Haig, whose Sean Drummond character reminds me of the irreverent characters in many Nelson DeMille books.

Some under 300-page books I can handle 3 in a week; over 400 pp might take 5 days - so it varies.

I'm not even close to Orrex' 643 books. Hmm, maybe he meant 643 pages, ya think?

March is when I got my i-phone and started keeping track of them in notes. I kept buying books that I had already read so now I can keep track of them as well as list books or Authors I am looking for. I only shop at the used book store and this really helps me out because when I find an author I like I will usually read everything they wrote but it's easy to loose track of what you already read.

I ran into the same problem (buying books I'd already read), so I started tracking them in a spreadsheet. I keep the author, title, copyright date, and a rating (1 to 5). That way I can sort by the 4s and 5s and look for authors I like, then track down the rest of their works on Amazon or at the used book store.

I can just go to the store and light up my i-phone and in seconds I know what I'm looking for and what I have already read. If you read a lot, this is indispensable!

But I'm also totally exhausted. I may have to slow it down for the rest of the year.

wow, how do some of you manage to read so many?

I made it through 80 this year, one of my best records since I started trying to maintain a list. Just a hint: my sister, who is retired though younger than me (go figure!), completed 157.

Twelve more than last year. Ugh. This year, I'm going to slow it down.

I try to read at a comfortable pace, and if I don't like something by page 50, I tend to get rid of it.

Might not seem like much (it's middling for me) but the quality was outsatnding this year.

Down about 15 from last year. Still, I'll take it.
