1. History of Britain by Nennius.
Edited on Sun May-09-10 12:12 AM by aquart
Sometimes I just feel sorry for him.

I see this is the fiction section. Well, so is most of the History of Britain by Nennius. Possibly all of it.

2. Katharine Neville's "The Fire". David Baldacci's "Deliver us From Evil"
and Stuart Woods "Lucid Intervals"

I hate "BOTMC". I sometimes read crap and buy it because my husband didn't say "No" timely enough.

9. I'm glad you like it
I am on the waiting list for Bloody Mary at the library, but I sure enjoyed the first one. I am still hoping someone will tell me just exactly how depressing The Help is and if I should finish it or return it. I hear great things about it, but this can't be a happy ending for everyone book and I'm not sure I'm up to it right now.

I started an old Jeanne Kalogridis book called Covenant with the Vampire, which looks like it will be part of a series. I am up next on the holds list for a couple of YA novels which should come in this week.

10. "Under the Dome" by Stephen King
It has a good beginning that pulls you right into the story. It's also a fast read so the over 1000 page length isn't a problem.

17. I just finished Speaks the Nightbird by Robert McCammon
Thanks to rowdyboy for the recommendation. A very good book. I now have his Queen of Bedlam on request from the library. I would have ordered it sooner but I didn't know I was going to spend the last couple of days home sick and finish the first one so soon.

24. I'd never heard of him
until rowdyboy mentioned the book Queen of Bedlam. So I picked up Speaks the Nightbird, which is the first in the series of three. They really are mystery novels set in the late sixteen hundreds to the early seventeen hundreds, with one central character who is the protagonist in all three.

The first one easily held my interest. It's set in 1699 and is about a woman in North Carolina who is accused of being a witch. Very long, too - over 700 pages, but it was interesting enough that I started it Friday evening and finished it Tuesday afternoon. I was sick Monday and Tuesday, so I stayed home and was able to read most of it then.

:hi:
