Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels
OMG, I was urged to read these by the women in our library and I haven't stopped laughing yet. The latest book is the eleventh in the series and it's been taken out a lot from our little library. I started with the first book and I'm now up to the eighth and they are hysterical!

A female bounty hunter, an "interesting" family, two men in her life - one a cop the other another bounty hunter - and many adventures (and cars.) I've been known to laugh out loud as I read.

Anyone else enjoying these books? They are delightful light summer reading.

3. I'm hooked
on Stephanie and I LOVE LULA! I have also listened to almost all of them on CD and they're even better - they really come to life. The latest is the best so far. What great escapism!

4. I was raised in the Trenton area
my cousin is a captain in the homicide division in the Trenton police. I love Stephanie Plum. Damn Skippy! I think the actress who played Monk's sidekick originally (Sharona) should play Ms. Plum in the movies. Queen Latifa for Lula. MorellI? Not sure. Ranger? Someone who is a cross between A. Banderas and Ice T.

12. when I visualize Stephanie Plum, I see Sandra Bullock.
I think it's the hair and the way Bullock can be so ditsy and yet convincing. Queen Latifa would be a good Lula. Ranger hmmm...The Rock or even Vin Diesel if he has a good director. Morelli...maybe Ben Affleck. I'm having trouble with Morelli. Keanu Reeves might be another possibility.

Just a few thoughts.

19. no no no MARK WAHLBERG as Ranger!
Sandra as Stephanie = great, and Morelli - hmmmmm I'll have to think about that one. Queen Latifah definitely as Lula and what about Cloris Leachman as Grandma Mazur and Olympia Dukakis as Mom!

29. I don't see Mark Wahlberg as Ranger, he's too anglo and not tall enough.
He'd be better, I think, as Morelli, but Keanu Reeves is the better of the two for Morelli. Or someone like a young Tom Selleck (politics aside) might be good, too.

And as for Cloris and Olympia....perfect!

All the gals in my book swap circle love the Stephanie Plum character! I have to be careful where I read these books, because I too laugh out loud often! I sure wouldn't mind running into Ranger in real life either! :hi:

14. I wish I KNEW Stephanie Plum. she is a totally engaging
character

Evanovich is just plain funny .

Like listening in on a bunch of old friends/family; running gags, inside jokes, highly predictable and all the more fun because of it.

I am up to number 10, I usually just get them when they come out in paperback.

Yep you can vote on who should play the 6 major characters.

I like Marisa Tomei myself as Stephanie, George Clooney as Morelli

It is a funny website

Oh Yeah read her other books, too.

33. Lula is a real hoot. She's been a great addition to the series.

I've read all the Stephanie Plum books. They really are funny. And consistently entertaining. So many writers' later books aren't as good as the earlier ones. Cases in point, IMO: Sue Grafton and Anne Perry.

26. Wow, what great responses!
I've been out in the yard with Stephanie and Lula, laughing...

I think Cloris Leachman as Granny would be great. I can't pick someone for Morelli. I see him in my head but I don't have a face for him. Ranger would have to be someone absolutely gorgeous.

Babe and Cupcake. Normally, I hate those little endearments but they're so in character for these guys.

I'm glad there are so many other fans. :)

Going to the library Monday. I love Sue Graftons books too. Another great favorite is Elizabeth George. I have watched her Inspector Lynley series on PBS, but they are not as good as the books. I still like the series though. Lynley is a hunk, in his British way.

30. These are fun, especially since
the humor relies on charicatures and stereotypes pretty much set in stone. Taken out of context, for instance, Lula is an insult to any plus-sized black woman but as a character in the Plum farces she's just hilarious. Remember when she was on the low carb diet and dogs were following her! ROFL!

laughter is so good for me, on many levels.

I love Lula, Grandma Mazur, and the stubborn resiliency of the powder blue buick. They're all residing happily on the "E" shelf here at home.
