I have to say that Patrick Fitzgerald really reminded me of one of his protagonists in his romance-adventure novels. Imagine this down to earth Irish barrister from Chicago and still single in his 40's. Imagine him involved in earth-shattering cases such as the Plame Leak. Sounds exactly like one of Andrew Greeley's heroes...and in the end he gets this incredibly dynamic and complex woman (preferably an Irish redhead or an olive-skinned Italian or better yet a Italian-Irish cross with jet black hair, pale skin, and peircing eyes). It remains to be seen if Fitzgerald will share the same ending.
Or maybe an Irish-Hungarian? :crossing fingers: Fitzgerald does seem like a character out of a romance novel, or an old-fashioned 1940's movie. I think this is why people responded so much to him - he kind of gave us hope that maybe we as a country would find that happy ending as well.
