Anyone here read KS Robinson's Mars trilogy?

Those are some of my favorite books. His defacto multinational corporation-run world of the first two books sound scarily similar to what is happening to the world right now, such as people on Earth thinking the rebels on Mars were terrorists because of the BS spewed by corporate media. I've always liked his concepts of "eco-economics" as well, which is a kind of green-socialist economy that is implemeted on Mars in the third book after independence is acheived.

8. global warming books?

There are 2 out right now. "Forty Signs of Rain" and the newest is "Fifty Degrees Below" in hardback only.

"It was a pastime in some circles to judge just how much of a dimwit the President was, how much of a performing puppet for the people manipulating him; but facing him in person Charlie felt instantly confirmed in his minority position that the man had such a huge amount of low cunning that it amounted to a kind of genius." WOW! Remind you of anyone?

In lots of other ways it's clear that this Pres. and his pro-business, anti-environment, anti-science maladministration are modeled after **. Only he's obviously smarter (like how could he miss?).

3. I love the KSR Mars books!

I just wish Arkady didn't have to die. The first time I read that passage I was so stunned that I literally had to put the book down for a couple days to absorb it. It wasn't so much that he died, but the manner of his death which to this day seems particularly awful.

10. I read them a few years ago and have misplaced the one where

he has one of the characters give a 'history' of economics. His use of the word trans-nationals to describe the mega corporations is true.

They were brilliant novels. I really liked them.
