Just finished "The Little Friend" by Donna Tartt.
Hooboy that was good. It is funny and scary at the same time. Also, you never really know who the good guys and who the bad guys are. She shows how those perceptions are all distorted by our feelings about class and race.

This was her second book. I am going to go back and read the first, now.

Anyone else read this book?

2. YES -- and it WAS great ...
Now that I know she's FINALLY written a second book, I'm going right out to buy it! I swear, I've been waiting for something new from her for a decade - thanks for the heads up!

I picked up "The Little Friend" months ago for £3 and I keep putting off reading it for various reasons.

5. I put off reading my copy for months.
It seemed so dark and I just wasn't in the mood. And it was dark, but it was also funny and suspenseful. I read it quickly once I got going with it.

9. There's one whole scene that reminded me of Carl Hiaasen
Had me laughing out loud - the meth lab, I believe. It's been a long while.

4. I LOVED "The Secret History" and am thrilled to hear she's finished
her second book. Thanks to you, I'll know to look for it tomorrow!

I worked with Ms. Tartt's mother for quite a few years (she worked for the state job service).

7. I did read this book when it came out.
The throwaway reference to 'the little friend' blew me away.

I liked it a lot.
