What do you know about Canada's Prime Minister?

In the book called After Liberalism, "essays in search of freedom, virtue, and order", edited by William D. Gairdner, there is one particular essay that might provide some hints about Stephen Harper.

That essay is called "Conservative Politics in Canada: Past, Present, and Future" and the authors are listed as Tom Flanagan and Stephen Harper. That is the same Stephen Harper who is currently Prime Minister of Canada, right?

Note: the book is "published 1998 by Stoddart Publishing Co. Limited."

He wasn't born fully grown out of the split head of Zeus. He's been in right of center politics in Canada for some years and seemed to geninely believe that Canada needed shaking up to correct drift under long years of Liberal rule following the total collapse of Brian Mulroney's Progressive Conservative party shortly after Mulroney's retirement.

And there's a persistent theme that Canada should be more like the US. Not 100% perhaps, but certainly to a far greater degree.

I have been led to believe that the US government is not doing an effective job of keeping the southern border of the USA secure. If Canada were to be more like the US, then would the Canadian government do an ineffective job of keeping Canada's southern border secure? In other words, do Canadian conservatives want large numbers of people from the USA to illegally enter Canada or overstay legal visits to Canada?

How about the other direction? If a Canadian conservative likes the USA more than Canada, is there some way for that Canadian conservative to live and work in the USA, regardless of US immigration law? How hard is it for a single person or family to sneak into the USA and start working?

The most obvious difference between Canada and the USA is that the USA has about ten times as many people as Canada. If Canada were to massively increase legal immigration and double the population of Canada every 15 years, then would the USA welcome the change or fear it? For example, if the screening were not careful then we could imagine some criminals or terrorists being admitted into Canada and then traveling across the border into the USA.

Another difference is that the Canadian Prime Minister appoints people who have been elected.

Harper is dead set on making Canada an American puppet satellite of the Straus influenced American government. Now that that he is showing his true colors such as his latest confrontation with the Canadian press I am hoping that Canadians will not be like most American sheeple.

Canada, so far, has the ability to call an election. Harper is ruling a minority government. I am hoping for an election to be called within two years. In Canada all voting is done by paper ballots. Pencil and paper. I am hoping that Harper does not get the idea to install electronic machines. Harper is Bush's MINI ME.

I do suggest DU members get a copy of the documentary POWER OF NIGHTMARES. This documentary does give all the history and background of Leo Strauss and his followers.
