The Prince -- by William Simpson
Has anyone heard anything about this book? It's a biography of Prince Bandar. My library got a free copy in the mail; I believe the accompanying letter said that it was compliments of the publisher. My first thought was that it's just propaganda paid for by the House of Saud's blood money. I couldn't find any reviews in legitimate review publications. But what I really want to know is why they would be sending these books en masse, including to a tiny, tiny library in Maine? What do they get out of it?

My copy went straight to the book-sale shelf.

1. Re "The Prince"
MountainLaurel, I have specifically joined this forum in order to post a reply to your comments re the above book. First i would say i HAVE read this 480 page book. Not only have I READ the book but i have encouraged many others to also read it (as i do you). All who have read it are unanimous in their declaration that it is one of the most important and enlightening books that we have EVER read. The book is written by a life long personal friend of Prince Bandar on his own initiative to enlighten readers about the incredible accomplishments of Prince Bandar and his influence on world affairs. In my opinion once having READ the book i feel very safe in saying without reservation that Prince Bandar has had more influence on world affairs than any other single individual (regardless of their status)in modern times. If you believe (as i do) that knowledge is power then you certainly are denying yourself a considerable lack of both knowledge and power. I could be misinterpreting your comments, however i get the impression that you personally have some ownership associated with the library you mention as to what happens to books that come into the possession of that facility. If that be true you are exercising a degree of censorship which i suggest is not conducive to learning and knowledge (particularly as it seems you made the decision to remove it's availability to the patrons of your library without having read it yourself). All world leaders of the most prominent nations on earth have been influenced by this man including all U.S. Presidents back to Mr. Carter (Democrat and Republican alike).I urge you to find the book and READ it then i would be very interested to hear your reaction.I suggest rather than basing your decision to read/not read on the availability "legitimate review" (the opinion of others) READ it yourself and form your OWN informed opinion.I respect your right to opinion but i suggest it be based on personal factual knowledge. truenorth
