Imperial Hubris

There was one thought that kept running through my mind as I read this book, "Is there a chance in hell that George W. Bush might ever read it?".

We all know the answer, of course he wouldn't read it because then he might have to think and negotiate with himself.

This is a well-documented expose of the current sad state of U.S. foreign policy. It provides much to think over and discuss.

Basically the U.S. has two choices, either change our foreign policy to eliminate our threat to 1.2 billion Muslims or be prepared to kill lots and lots of them.

it was an interesting book although his Reagan hero worship was hard to swallow IMHO

Yeah I thought the same thing. There was that one line almost deifying Reagan as such a good man, blah bblah blah. I thought, "WTF?".

He should've laid some blame on Reagan as one of his points as to why we're in this mess is our dependance on foreign oil. Well Reagan's the guy who dismissed everything that Carter did to start us towards energy-independance. The US hasn't taken the issue seriously since Carter.

Neither did Reagan do anything about standing up to the Saudi dictatorship, etc. It fell to Bush #1 to really climb into the Saudi lap but then Bush #1 was just an extension of the Reagan administration.

Finally, if there was ever an example of delusional thinking, which Anonymous is heavily critical of both in and out of our government, it was Reagan. He was the first cheerleader for what has become the national obsession, getting something for nothing.
