Sean Penn is a Great Actor
I am watching "I Am Sam" and Penn is doing a great job. I also think he did a great job in "All the Kings Men". On another note Michelle Pfieffer is doing a great job in the movie also.

Tepid movie, but desperately good performance by Penn. You can sense the gears in his character's head cranking in every scene.

4. Dead Man Walking was a great performance.
Susan Sarandon got her Oscar for that, but he deserved one also.

14. Redneck and psychopath roles are hard to pull off...

without resorting to stock, which is why Sean Penn made that film - same with Javier Bardin in 'No Country.'

16. Susan was playing Sister Helen Prejean, who of course
is a memorable character, but the fact that Sean could stir up some empathy for the killer/prisoner shows the depth and breadth of his talent.

17. In that vein, I think of Billy Bob in Singblade, too
Such good performances, they're almost at their best in the absence of dialogue, but sustaining audience interest in what's going on in their heads.

18. Yeah, he's an amazing actor and writer.
If it weren't for that story about he and Anjolina Jolie wearing a vial of each others blood around their necks I'd almost wonder what he was like as a person.

5. My all time favorite of him is of the stoner in
"Fast Times at Ridgemont High". He is one of the best of Hollywood's "A" list actors.

22. I agree about BAR. No memorable, snappy dialogue.
I liked it though.

Saw another trailer about the Nixon/Frost interviews that seemed rather intriguing.

24. based on what i saw in the trailer, anothy hopkins made a more believable nixon, appearance-wise...
although langella seems to have the voice down better.

i find it very distracting when they do bio-type pics of people who are very familiar, and the actors/actresses don't look much like them... i'm shallow that way.

8. "Dude, is he going to shit, or is he going to kill us?"
Yes, he's one of our greatest contemporary actors.....but he'll always be Jeff Spiccoli to me.

13. What about the Oliver Stone movie he was in.
I believe the name if the movie was U-Turn. He plays the part of man passing through some backwards town, when his car breaks down. He runs into a hillbilly, played by Billy Bob Thornton who works on his vehicle, but ends up taking him for a ride. I for some reason really like this movie. Even though I don't like many of Oliver Stones movies.

15. If you haven't seen 'At Close Range' with Penn and Chris Walken...
do. It's from 1986, and they play off each other's chops brilliantly.

23. If you want to see another great performance watch the ORIGINAL "All the King's
Men". Much better film, with a towering performance by Broderick Crawford as Willie Stark.
