Simply amazing.

And I really don't like Bob Dylan's vocal style.

But it works here, for some reason.

It's better on the big screen...saw it twice on Friday.

May go see it again on Sunday.

1. Wasnt sure I was going to like it. But the opening did it for me.

I was worried it wouldnt live up to the comic but that opening montage almost made me cry.

2. That recreation of Kennedy's assassination was remarkable.

The attention to detail...Kennedy's head...Zapruder....

One of the greatest opening credit sequences ever.

12. The detail work in general was great

The book rewarded paying attention to things in the background, and I think the producers wanted something similar to happen with the movie. You can see odd things in the background now and then.

5. The very brief scene with young Kovacs is great

It captures that whole damaged aspect of his character very effectively.

6. Yes, it did *SPOILERS*

One minor gripe is that they altered the ending: there was no giant interdimensional squid. Despite that, I think the movie was awesome: they did a good job of compressing the story and consolidating the different story arcs into a reasonably coherent movie.

And I heard that the Osterman/Veidt dialogue didn't take place?

I always felt that Osterman's last line is the essence of whole story.

Osterman's line's there, just in a different context. A lot of the lines they obviously put some effort on including as close to verbatim as possible were his, and a few got passed around to other people for various reasons.

Veidt was the only character in the movie who I really felt got shortchanged; he came across more a snootily arrogant, while in the book he was basically impossible to dislike until he unveiled his plan - and even then I found him difficult to dislike. Movie-Veidt I found quite easy to dislike from the start, though, which yanked a lot of the ambiguity out from under Operation Calamari.

By the time the weekend's done I'll probably have seen it 3 times.

I think it just might knock "V for Vendetta" from the top of my favorite comic book film list.

Not being a Watchmen fanatic (I've only just started having an interest in Alan Moore's graphic novels after reading and seeing V for Vendetta back in 2006), I'm re-reading the graphic novel version of Watchmen in its entirety before seeing this picture.

10. The funny thing is I happened upon a column from a DC editor in 1984....

It was a "...Meanwhile" by Dick Giordano. I saw it ages ago when I was going through some old "Legion of Superheroes" comics. He was writing about how just that morning he had heard two great pitches for stories he thought were going to revolutionize the art form, and commissioned them both.

One was "an Alan Moore story involving the old Charlton characters" and the other was "the ultimate Batman story" from Frank Miller.

"Watchmen" and "The Dark Knight Returns" were commissioned the same day. I found that fascinating.

11. I thought the overhaul soundtrack worked well. I usually feel that

soundtracks in these kind of films are forced and obvious. The eclectic selection brought a lot of cohesion to scene transitions.
