Trailer for Zombieland with Woody Harrelson
We admit that we were skeptical about Zombieland, the upcoming horror comedy starring Woody Harrelson, but the newly released trailer has us reconsidering.

The genre seems ripe for lampooning, though it's hard to imagine any zombie satire more perfect than Shaun of the Dead (or George A. Romero's own movies, for that matter). Still, judging from the trailer, it looks like this new movie, directed by newbie Ruben Fleischer, has an appropriately Apatowish slacker sensibility we find hard to resist ("You guys want some Purell?").

That, and Emma Stone. And, we're promised, Bill Murray as a zombie!

Here's the official synopsis:

Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) has made a habit of running from what scares him. Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) doesn't have fears. If he did, he'd kick their ever-living ass. In a world overrun by zombies, these two are perfectly evolved survivors. But now, they're about to stare down the most terrifying prospect of all: each other.

Zombieland, which also stars Abigail Breslin (!), opens Oct. 9

3. Rarely met a zombie film I didn't like. Or a Woody flick either. I'm there.

It looks like they have "runners" in this zombie flick. I really liked how Shaun of the Dead handled society being overrun so quickly by the shambling dead. It showed people dropping dead in the street. Enough of that happens and you have a problem! It added a layer to the story that I always thought was missing in the Romero films. For a well armed society like ours to fall to the un-dead they would have to be created in large numbers quickly, or they'd have to be very fast...
