About Bruno
I don't know if we'll watch it. I sat with my jaw dropped during most of Borat..

Anyway, here are two paragraphs from the review on TIME

But Brüno's encounters with real people are priceless, even when the real people are celebrities. When the L.A. house he is renting as a location for a new interview show turns out to be unfurnished, Brüno recruits some Mexican laborers to get down on all fours as human benches. What kind of person would actually sit on other people? Now we know: Paula Abdul, warily, and LaToya Jackson, with gusto. Jackson's scene was cut from the film after Michael's death, so unless it's restored on the DVD, you won't get to see that what really offends her about the situation is not the humiliation of the workers but Brüno's persistent attempts to get her brother's phone number.

It goes without saying that Stephen Colbert owes Baron Cohen a debt too large to repay, but by comparison, Colbert plays it safe. His guests always know that Colbert's right-wing blowhard character is a put-on, and they happily play along. When Brüno tries to start a cuddle party with Texas Representative Ron Paul — "Has anyone ever told you, you look like Enrique Iglesias?" — the flustered former presidential candidate is definitely not in on the joke. As Paul makes his panicky escape down a hallway, he clues in one of his aides: "This guy is a queer!"

I've heard that many RWers actually think that Colbert is one of them..

1. Why do people give that freak attention?
Oh, wait, Britney Spears, jessica S, loads of others who have no talent but plenty of shock jock attitude...

I need a paradigm shift...

2. One thing that Baron Cohen has, plenty, is talent
you may not like it - many do not like Stewart, Maher and Colbert - but he is talented.

3. Can you believe the publicity
this new movie is getting?

Like you, I fail to get the alleged humor.

But, that's what makes horse races......................

5. I fail the get the publicity that Michael Jackson got
that the story of his funeral was first, and the death of seven of our troops in Afghanistan was way behind - at least on CNN.

6. Agreed -
our media priorities, maybe our personal priorities, as well, are sorely in need of a re-alignment...................................

7. The root of the humor is satire.
Not for everyone, admittedly, but there is a long history of that as humor.

9. I think Cohen is a genius and his intelligence shines through...
Did you see "Borat?" It's really not possible to judge an artist's work unless you see the organic product. I am not in favor of bland, safe comedy, but that's just me, I 'spose...

4. I saw it today
It's not as uproariously funny as Borat, but it's still quite good.

VERY crude, even moreso than Borat. Particularly early in the film. Probably a bit too much.

It really settles down as the movie wears on, and the climax scene with "Straight Dave" at the cagefights was incredibly funny, and rather poignant in it's contrast of the audience's frothing desire for violence versus their equally powerful disgust at two men kissing.

Good flick. But if you're uncomfortable seeing a LOT of penis you shouldn't see it.

8. I saw it yesterday, Borat was better.
This is not my kind of movie, my bf wanted to go and it was his b-day so we went.

My criticism: Unlike Borat, in this movie there was no real story, and there were no characters to empathize with. It flowed as if they were crossing off items on a shock list. Most of it was gratuitous and self indulgent.

The only social commentary that I thought had wheels was when he was auditioning the stage moms and dads, and what these parents were willing to subject their kids to, for fame.

I left wanting a shower and a therapy session.

10. Colbert plays it safe? A full year before Borat, he farted in Bush's face!
Reviewer FAIL.
