Live Action Movie Review: Cat in the Brain
Cat in the Brain aka Lucio Fulci's Nightmare Concert (a Cat in the Brain)

Country of origin: Italy

Genre: Psychological Thriller/Slasher

Story: Lucio Fulci (Zombie, The Beyond, New York Ripper) plays himself, a horror director. Fulci begins to suffer from horrific hallucinations which he believes are caused by constantly making grotesque movies.

Acting Mostly good. There is a movie inside of the movie, a Nazi S&M/demonic undead horror movie, and the acting and special effects in the fake movie are a little cheesier than the real movie, but I think this was intentional.

Humor: Some of the scenes are pretty funny. I think they were meant to be funny, but I am not 100% sure.

Violence: Extremely violent and extremely graphic. Cannibalism, dismemberment, chainsaw versus child, close ups of horrible wounds, eyeball extractions, etc. Objects in Fulci's movies cause more carnage than one would expect.

Sex: Lots of nudity and some scenes of soft core sex.

Overall: A delightful movie. I highly recommend Cat in the Brain to all Fulci fans and sickos. Everyone else should probably stay away due to the extreme violence.

I purchased the 2-disc Grindhouse releasing of Cat in the Brain which comes with interviews and fun trailers for some great movies, such as I Drink Your Blood/I Eat Your Skin.

1. This director sounds like Peter Dragon (Dragonfire films)

(Senate committee hearing)

Senator Powell : Now how can you sit there in that $3,000 suit and tell this committee that your films are not excessively violent?

Peter Dragon : With all due respect Senator, my films simply reflect the prevailing culture, I'm not an advocate of violence and I never been, I'm merely chronically events that happen to thousands of Americans every day.

Senator Powell : Oh really? In your movie entitled "Blood Mother" you portray a young woman who has sexual relations with her domestic staff, kills them and then cannibalizes their bodies! Is this the kind of thing Americans experience on a daily basis?

Peter Dragon : If they work for my ex-wife, yes... hahaha.

(From Action!, the funniest TV show ever made)

2. I have never seen Action!, but it sounds silly.
Fulci's movies are solid entertainment.
