Minnesota Vikings member Brett Favre fined $50K for sending photos of member

Commissioner Roger Goodell has fined Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre $50,000 over the Jenn Sterger fiasco, the league announced Wednesday.

However, Favre wasn't found to have violated league policy with regards to Sterger: He was fined for failing to cooperate with the league's investigation.

The NFL was still interviewing and gathering information on the case as recently as last week.

Sterger, a former New York Jets media personality, had claimed Favre sexually harassed her when both were with the New York franchise in 2008.

Favre allegedly sent Sterger inappropriate text and phone messages, as well as photos of his genitalia. The allegations were first reported by Deadspin.com.

Favre admitted to leaving Sterger voice messages but denied sending her lewd photographs.

Through her attorney, Joseph Conway, Sterger expressed disappointment at the NFL's decision and called it "an affront to all females."

1. Not a fan of Favre, but
Why didn't Ms Sterger just sue Mr Favre for harrassment?? I mean what did she expect the NFL to do. They can't fire him. He hasn't played in 2 weeks and may end his career with a concussion. It just seems a little strange to me - the whole story.

4. I heard that $50,000 for Mr. Favre equals 5 minutes of playing time.
certainly not a big punishment, is it? He'll never miss it.

5. I know...that falls about 1000 pain levels BELOW "slap on the wrist"...
...and the 50K wasn't for PMing his johnson, it was for "not cooperating with the investigation."

The good old boys network is alive and well.

6. They could not find proof that the picture came from his cell.
They had her cell phone with the original saved. If it came from his cell, they would have been able to track it. Perhaps it isn't the old boys network as much as not his junk. Personally, I think a 50K fine for "not cooperating" when he did everything he was contractually obligated to do as being a little over the top.
