4. I didn't like Fear And Loathing when I first saw it
Somehow it just wasn't what I was expecting. But it has grown on me over time.

About time the Rum Diary hits screens. I've been hearing about it for many moons.

I hope it's good.

5. Not a big Johnny Depp fan...
But, Hunter S Thompson holds a special place in my heart.

And not as some drugged out, freakshow on wheels. Shallowly emulated by the nation's clueless frat boys and consumer minded 'lifestyle rebels'. Though that's cool, too. Whatever. Remember though, the whole 'Gonzo-Madman' thing was an act! That's a telling indictment on America.

No, I like Hunter because the man could put thoughts on paper like no one else.
A unique perspective from an unflinchingly grim realist. (An absurdist realist?)
And the Derp stuff seems like watered down, pop culture drivel to me. But, he's
got such nice bone structure!!

"The TV business is uglier than most things. It is normally perceived as some kind of cruel and shallow money trench through the heart of the journalism industry, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs, for no good reason."
~ Hunter S. Thompson

6. Faith in Depp
I'm overwhelmingly excited for this to come out. Years in the making? Killed me!

It's one of my favorite stories and the book I've read most in my life. It was actually the first Hunter book I read. Since then, I've completely spiraled out on his writing.

When I saw the first trailer, I was a little hesitant. It's a mediocre trailer for how I feel about the story...but I realized a few things:

1. Bruce Robinson wrote the screenplay
2. Johnny Depp is participating in the film
3. Trailers that give away the entire story suck

Looks like another book from the outside but inside they make a raucous. I think the same will go for the film. Johnny Depp would never allow a Hunter piece to be misrepresented. Now this last month is going to kill me.
