:D I'm on tender hooks, how about you?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0149cv1"> Barbra Streisand: From the Way We Were... To the Way We Are - BBC Interview

Barbra Streisand: From the Way We Were... To the Way We Are - From her home in Malibu, Barbra chats with Academy Award-winning lyricist Don Black. They reminisce on their mutual friends Alan and Marilyn Bergman, on working together and tweaking Don's classic lyrics for "As If We Never Said Goodbye" to make a perfect opening number for her comeback tour after 27 years. These two friends once found themselves competing against each other in the category of Best Original Song at 49th Academy Awards - Don with composer Henry Mancini for "Come to Me" from "The Pink Panther Strikes Back" and Barbra with Paul Williams for "Evergreen (Love Theme from A Star Is Born). Tune in to found out who won that particular battle.

1. Tenterhooks! I'd rather not stay tuned for it, but I'm sure she's got fans.

2. Well, the voice is a little darker and older now, but it has always been a natural
voice, somewhat untrained and unrehearsed.

4. Bash her all you want, but she puts her money where her mouth
is. Can you say the same?

5. I love Barbra. Al Franken used to joke on his radio show about how the right would claim that
she gives us marching orders, which I thought was pretty funny.

6. Oh, maybe I misunderstood the "I'm on tender hooks" remark.
What did you mean by that?

7. Well, to be "on tenterhooks", as the other person pointed out,

spelling wise, I think, means that you are a goner for the person, i.e., for Barbra. And, I do like her, I like her voice and I especially like her politics, as you said. The joke that the right makes--fairly often--is that we on the left must actually DERIVE our politics from things that Streisand says or opines. It, of course, is just the opposite: we happen to share her politics because it is smart. Barbra is, in fact, an inspiring person because of her high intelligence and empathy.

I thought it was an OK joke from Franken. You know, not the best, perhaps, but relevant in the sense that it makes a valid political point about how the right loves to tar people with other people's beliefs, and by association. Almost as if we are the same mindless drones that THEY are, LOL. This is why I thought the topic belongs in the main political DU Discussion forum, not as an entertainment topic. Evidently, the moderator didn't see it that way. But, you hear this kind of drivel all of the time from the right, you know? So, my point was for everyone to be prepared for it :)

8. Oh, ok. Kinda like those on the right actually derive their
politics from Rush Limpballs. I'll gladly follow Barbra instead. lol
