Ooops !!!......Celluloid style.

Ever catch big scenery goofs in movies?
I was watching "Halloween", my favorite horror film, on AMC last night. The film is set in fictional Haddonfield, Illinois, which presumably would be past fall color peak by Oct. 31. Yet in the film, almost all the trees are bursting with bright green leaves, and the only orange ones are those scattered on the ground (by the crackerjack film crew, no doubt). And if you look hard enough past Jamie Lee Curtis as she's walking away from the Myers house at the beginning of the film, you can see a couple of palm trees in the distance. And there are mountains near the highway where Dr. Loomis discovers Michael Myers' hospital gown. :)

Anyway, I got a chuckle out of it. Ever notice blatant scenery mistakes in other movies?

1. That blooper is well known to Halloween ....
the movie fans ... check out this link of the movie locations years later ....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3qz4HeBsnI

also there is another scene where Michael Myers is coming around from behind the house at night ... think the kids are looking out the window at him from across the street at night ... anyway ... Michael is only about 5' 2" in the scene because they had to use some short woman actress in that scene for some odd reason ... really short to the perspective of the house .... but it's a quick scene and unless it wasn't explained by the creators of the film don't think it was ever noticed. Happy Halloween !!

4. To John Carpenter's credit
Halloween was shot for less than $300,000 and in less than four weeks, yet grossed $50 million in 1978 box office and who knows how much in rental, VHS and DVD sales.

The many visual gaffes in the Star Wars films are worth noting, especially since virtually all of them have made it past Lucasfilm's "digitally enhanced" re-releases. Off the top of my head:

A New Hope: Cantina Scene: the little bug-eyed bat guy squealing for a drink: you can see in one eye of the mask and out through the other.

ANH: Death Star: when the stormtroopers finally breach the sealed door where the droids are hiding, a particularly tall (and vision-challenged) stormtrooper clocks his forehead on the raising door.

ANH: Yavin after the Death Star battle: As the crowds race in to congratulate Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher/Princess Leia runs up and Mark Hamill/Luke shouts "Carrie!"

Empire Strikes Back: On the Millennium Falcon, hiding in the asteroid, C-3PO's finger comes off when he's tapping Han Solo on the shoulder.

I could go on and on. Not technically scenic goofs, but I guarantee you'll be looking for them next time you watch!

5. "yet grossed $50 million in 1978 box office"

Which in 2011 dollars would probably be around $160 million

7. The Fugitive
A scene set at a huge dam across a mountain-ringed valley, also in Illinois.

8. Oh yeah, when Harrison Ford took the dive to get away from Tommy Lee Jones.....

You're right. Looks more like British Columbia. :)
