I want to rent your camper/RV
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 11:20 AM by OnionPatch
(I hope it's ok to post this here)

We are in southern California. My elderly parents would like to spend a couple of months here this coming winter, but insist on having their own place. (My step-father doesn't like to feel like he's "in the way.") I researched small apts, etc. and there is no way on Earth that they will be able to pay the $1500 a month rent they will need to do this. I looked into renting campers at commercial camper rentals. OMG!!! They want an average of $1500 a WEEK (!!) for a medium sized camper. That's even more out of the question. Hotels want at least $75 a night which comes out to a whopping $2250 a month.

If I could find someone who would be willing to rent us their camper for two months, we would be willing to pay them around $1000 a month for the rental. (For a medium to large camper in nice shape.) The camper/RV would not go anywhere, it will sit in our driveway in our nice neighborhood inside a fence for the entire two months. My parents are in their seventies, are non-smokers, go to bed at 8pm and my mother is a clean-a-holic, so the place will probably be cleaner after they leave than it was before. We would put up a good deposit and sign a rental contract. We can also provide references, etc. This would be for the months of January and February or maybe mid-Jan to mid-March.

If anyone in southern CA is interested in making a few extra bucks on an RV that might otherwise just sit in storage, pm me.

Thanks.

On edit: We are also looking into the possibility of buying a camper outright, using it for the two months and then selling it again, so if you have one for sale, we might be interested as well.

1. I checked on Craigslist in Southern Cal
and there are a few that you might be interested in:
One for $700
http://santabarbara.craigslist.org/rvs/197609748.html

You might find something else you like better--but if you are willing to pay $1000 a month--this might be okay to tow it to your house, let them live in it and then resell and let someone else fix it.

Good luck in your search.

2. That looks like a deal for sure
You know, we've actually almost decided to just buy a trailer, keep it for a few months, and sell it again, or who knows--maybe we'll decide to keep it and sell our little camper instead. We have a little truck camper. Maybe it's time to move up. ;)

I'd still be interested if anyone should happen to have one they'd like to rent out for two months. We know now that it will be February and March. I know it's a long shot but....

Thanks for the info, tho. I never thought to look on Craig's list. I'll have to do that for sure.

3. We can help!
We own a 1992 Safari Serengeti RV, 38 ft. It's very nice with wood/carpet floors, a kitchen with dishwasher, and even a washer/dryer! I'm disabled so it even has a seat in the shower. We'd love to rent it out and have been considering selling as well. Oh yes, and we are in San Diego.

5. Wow, that sounds interesting
Sounds like a great camper. :bounce: If you think you'll still have it in Feb. and March, we'd definitely be interested in renting it. I'll pm you with some of my info.

What a coincidence, we just got home today from spending the weekend down in San Diego. What a great place. I wish the company we worked for was down there instead of up here in the "Inland Empire."
