IMO when those who are very religious support Bush and/or

some wish was mind changing idea like Intelligent Design the result from their stand point turns out negative. If you try to make a sage out of a idiot you will need lots of luck and not even their own God could make it stick. Kansas has voted out most of the people who preferred the dark ages over science which is good. Most people realize that having their kids grow up competitive is more essential than having faith in the unprovable.

1. I think you are right. They have way over-simplified everything

way too often and the physiology of things like thought and motivation are becoming habituated in all but the most dysfunctional (who can still be quite dangerous, e.g. Timothy McVeigh).

It's like a fan running in the room, after a while you don't hear it anymore. What's scary about that is, it requires a shock of some sort (e.g. 9/11) to get people's attention again.

2. What is really scary is the kids these nutbags produce will be ill equipped

to face many of life's challenges. They are easily toppled, because nothing is as simple as it seems. And the hypocrisy of their reasoning is mind numbing.
