Online registration opens today for the Peace Not Poverty "Write-In"
The Peace Not Poverty "Write-In" is sponsored by twenty-three progressive religious and activist organizations to speak out against the Iraq War and injustice. The intent is to build what the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called the Beloved Community!
The Write-In utilizes a new online writing system called Synanim, offered by Faith Voices for the Common Good. This unique technology enables an unlimited number of participants to work together in small groups online to write a declaration against the war in Iraq.
On April 4, the resulting declaration will be read by the consensus leader at the Beyond Iraq service in Riverside Church in New York. This televised event will commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr.'s speech against the Vietnam War on on that date, 1967, and it will launch the national Break The Silence bus tour.
These events mark the re-awakening of a nationwide community of conscience, a community embarking on a mission toward social justice, progressive values, and a genuine freedom for the common good of all.
Online registration opens today, March 20 www.peacenotpoverty.org
