Texas Vs The FLDS and the Native Americans

One thing for certain, the Native Americans and most of the indigenous peoples on the earth knew all about incest a long time ago. That is one reason the tribes set up the elaborate clan system to avoid the incest taboo.

Too bad the Angel Moroni didn’t pass on that information to Joseph Smith when they were creating the FLDS.

2. Tlingit (perhaps other nw tribes) had 2 moieties (to simplify), lots of clans
"Moiety" is the large grouping, division, descent group. These are Raven, Eagle. They are divided into clans also. You inherited your mother's moiety, were supposed to marry into your father's. I am not sure about other places, other nations.
