2. Si.
If George W. Bush could learn English (a language obviously foreign to him) so as to read "My Pet Goat," I can learn Spanish to read Cervantes in the original.

5. I'm considering learning ancient greek
for the Iliad and Odyssey.

I doubt I'll ever find the time and means but lately I've had a strong desire to do it. Also to read Herodotus and Thucydides.

6. I could never learn a new language. I am terrible at languages. Better at solving problems. My
mother is great at language and does well in crosswords. We just have opposite brains.

I already had a pretty high level of competence in Mandarin, so it wasn't all that hard. I've occasionally considered learning Sanskrit, but my tastes have been shifting towards the Occidential recently...

10. I learned Portuguese in order to understand lyrics of Brazilian music
especially bossa nova. But I already knew Spanish and French which made Portuguese very easy to learn.

12. None of the above, but
I've been learning Irish (Irish Gaelic) so I can understand and properly pronounce the lyrics in traditional Irish songs.
