Try to lighten up. That's all some of us can do.

Sure, every morning with her orange juice and Wheaties. What else would she read?

What is wrong with you? Do you need assistance? Can anyone do anything from where we sit to help you?

You scare people when you post stuff like this.

It wasn't annoyance on my part, let me assure you.

I was worried about your health, frankly.

10. Redstone is in real pain
He has physical pain that's debilitating. As I understand it, it was under control for a while.

Now it isn't.

And these jokers who think making jokes about something they don't even understand make me want to spit. They're mindless scum, but I'm sure they think they're ever-so-clever.

Sometimes DU just sucks, you know.

Not you, MADem.

Redstone is in trouble.

16. I wish this place were less snarky, too ...... After all, we WON.
And despite that, there's no joy. There's a lot of ungracious assholes about, too. And there's way too much meanness, which is NEVER clever, IMO. Life is too fucking short for that kind of personal piling on.

I have a very dear friend who is in intractable pain. She's a trooper, too. She has the strongest mind of anyone I know. She's on a cocktail of meds and gives herself shots when things get real rough. Some days, though, she just can't beat it back and it shows in her eyes. Her husband is getting older, like she is, and he tries like hell to "do" for her, but she's not getting the help she deserves in managing her condition, IMO. If she were Rush Limbaugh, she'd probably be on Cloud Nine.

I really do wish that "pain management" could be better managed by doctors, without feds coming after doctors and accusing them of crap. You'd think that all of this "electronic medical records" crap would make it easier for doctors to be able to identify a person as a chronic pain sufferer, and be able to give them the help they need without being accused of being pushers.

I also wish people wouldn't be mean to people having trouble. It's unkind.

22. Pain's no joke, and people in pain
have to be lucky to find the right doctor who will do all that can be done to ease that pain.

I've got a medical condition that causes pain. It's bad, and I have a great physician who didn't hesitate to write out the scrips I need to get through some of these times. She's a Diplomate, beyond being Board-certified, and she brooks no nonsense. If you're in pain, you take the medicine, same as you would if you were a diabetic and had to take insulin.

As for the tenor of DU, it sounds more and more like a gathering place for cranks suffering from anhedonia. I'm especially amused by the fools who are railing at President Obama because he hasn't done whatever they think he should do - eight days after he took office.

I, too, wish there were more of a sense of community and, of course, compassion. That bullshit that was posted to Redstone's initial post left me snarling. People like that need to get offline and go do something meaningful.

Thanks for your thoughtful words.

23. Ahhh, ANHEDONIA!!!!
That's how I used to describe "The Bush Years!"

Obama wasn't my primary choice, but I am not going to bash him at every turn. I paid attention when he spoke during the primary and general elections, so I'm not surprised about his stances on the issues or where he sits on the line between liberal and conservative, and I'm certainly not going to gripe overmuch when he does what he said he was going to do! Now, if he says one thing and does another, that's a discussion point, but he really has not done that yet.

What to do about the Internet Tough Guys? I dunno...make fun of them, perhaps? Ignore them? Pity them? I won't be their punching bag, but I won't overly invest myself in arguing with them, either--it just feeds their tender and apparently needy egos.

I hope Redstone can get a doc as good as yours--in fact, I hope everyone can. Health care is one issue I do hope Obama is able to wrap his arms round, even if the economy stays a friken nightmare for awhile.

Take good care, now!

that those things can work for other people, they didn't work for me.

Thanks for your reply.

26. We all post grumpy sometimes.
I quit smoking about two weeks ago and sometimes I take out my frustrations here on DU. I don't plan to, but I have noticed it.

I have no memories of you annoying me, but if you ever do, I will take this apology and apply it to that situation.

I wish you well. I wish you peace. By the look of this thread, you already have humility and forgiveness.

28. I have zero clue as to what what this is about, but apparently you are in considerable pain,
for which you have all of my sympathy. We all get grumpy when we are in pain, and sometimes say things that we later regret. Think nothing of it.

Heck, this is a message board. Sometimes there is rough-and-tumble. People need a thicker skin to participate on message boards. Sometimes (though not all the time) I have posted things DELIBERATELY that I knew would annoy people (but that I believed to be true, not just arguing for it's own sake), so you have nothing to apologize for.

29. I don't think you annoyed people
Edited on Fri Jan-30-09 11:11 AM by Meshuga
I didn't see the original content of the original post to comment on its relevance to the R/T forum. So it is hard to comment or to judge the context of the conversations.

I feel terrible for you and I am sorry for your pain. I can't say that I would ever be able to know what kind of pain you go through every day. My wife has fybromyalgia and she says that even some doctors suggested she was exaggerating when she complained about pain. How would one know without experiencing such pain? It is tough when people cannot relate. At least that is the complaint I hear from my wife when she is in pain.

So I do feel for you without really knowing your pain and I would love to give you support if I could be supportive, however, R/T is not the best place for one to look for this kind of support. Not because the people here are not nice but because people will comment on the religious aspects of your post since this place is about religion and theology. I think the same people who you think might be annoyed would show support in a different forum (like one of the support groups in DU) but here people assume you want to discuss religion and nothing else.

I don't think people were annoyed so I don't think you should apologize for anything. If people responded it was because this is a religion forum and they were responding to the religious aspects of your post. But I am only making an assumption since I did not get to read your OP.

Take care!
