Rep. Richard Carroll, who is Catholic and a newly elected member of the Green Party, introduced HJR 1009 to lift the ban on atheists Feb. 11.

1. It sounds like they are going to repeal an old unused law - like many communities have done

with other laws such as parking your horse, not spitting on the sidewalk, and controlling your pigs.

2. Only "unused" because:

In 1961 the U.S. Supreme Court declared unconstitutional a similar Maryland law discriminating against atheists.

And this is a civil rights issue, unlike "horses and pigs":mad:

What I see happening is progressives, mostly with the Green Party label, being voted into local office in Fayetteville and Eureka Springs. I see pro-marijuana ordinances being passed in both places (arrest on pot lowest priority--not to be done of and by itself). I see a strong anti-war community with regular emails about what is going on. I see a pirate radio station that broadcasts real news. I see the continuing alternative fuels/alternative energy movement going strong, as well as the great recycling program, especially in Madison County.

So what do you see as happening in Arkansas?

4. Looks like its time for another letter to Rep. Ragland

and Randy Laverty, my state rep and state senator. I'm wondering where Carroll is from. I'd say either Eureka Springs or Fayetteville--both have strong Green Party presence.
