Anti-Christ Protest at E3 Computer and Video Game Expo
Anti-Christ Protest at E3 Computer and Video Game Expo
Wednesday, Jun. 3 2009 @ 12:26PM
By Erin Broadley in Tech

Today a group of religious protesters gathered outside the E3 Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center to rally against the EA-helmed game Dante's Inferno. The protesters' message was simple: Play Dante's Inferno and go to Hell. Check out the photograph below of our favorite sign bearing the slogan: "My High Score is in Heaven."

EA Pokes Fun at chrisTians for "Dante's Inferno" Marketing
Written by Arya Ponto
Thursday, 04 June 2009

Earlier today, many game blogs were reporting on and taking pictures of a group of chrisTian protesters gathering outside of E3 to protest Dante's Inferno, EA's upcoming game based on Dante's classic Divine Comedy. The protesters were holding up ludicrous signs like "EA = Electronic Antichrist" and "Hell is not a game," even talking to reporters to explain how the game is disrespectful to the Bible.

Of course, many are quick to be skeptical of the protest, correctly guessing that this is just EA's idea of viral marketing.

The protesters were calling themselves The SAVED Group (Salvationists Against Virtual and Eternal Damnation) and shilling their website on pamphlets. A website that talks about nothing but Dante's Inferno and links to both its official website and its trailer.

You see, real chrisTians? When you protest/boycott something, you're only helping the sale of the product. That's how controversy works.

1. so . . . what exactly is wrong with hell?
I'm confused. I do NOT want to be raptured, go to heaven and hang out with some righteous judgmental hard haired self-declared saint, or be forced to wear a god damn shiny-ass halo and fluffy wings farting joy from cloud to cloud and twanging my damn harp. For all eternity! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I'd rather soak my ass in eternal flaming hot sauce.

I had damn well better end up in hell or I'm going to be one bad attitude angel-dude.

2. hell joke for ya
My neighbor died, an angel showed up and said: I will bring you to hell.
So he opens the door... there is pool, girls, long drinks, everybody is having great fun.

So he asks: Ehrm... this is hell?
Oh yes of course!
Can I have a look?
Sure, its your home now...

So he walks around, good fun everywhere. After a while he sees a wall with a hole in it... so he looks through and sees flames and devils beating up people...

So he asks: Well, what is that here?
The angel says: Oh, its also hell, but these are fundys. They want it this way!

3. That reminds me a little of my favorite thinker's rant on music...
"They say rock n' roll is the devil's music. Well, let's say that it is; I've got news for you. Let's say that rock n' roll is the devil's music and we know it for a fact to be the absolutely, unequivocally true.

Boy, at least he fucking jams!

Ha ha ha ha! Okay? Did you hear that correctly? If it's a choice between eternal hell and good tunes and eternal heaven and new kids on the fucking block … I'm gonna be surfing on the lake of fire, rocking out … high five at Satan every time I pass the motherfucking shore." -Bill Hicks

I think it's a viral campaign. Fundies don't find out about these things until they're already on the shelves, unless Jack Thompson strokes off about it. JT has target fixation on Rockstar Games, though, so... I'm going with viral.

8. If someone wishes to be upset at EA, there are much better reasons,
such as releasing Battlefield: Bad Company with all the glitches still in it.

A fantastic game, and they did address many of the glitches in a free patch, but damn, I felt like they were beta testing on the public.
