April 16, 2010 by Ann @ GLAAD

The United Church of Christ (UCC) recently released two new ads that uplift families and couples—including lesbian and gay families and couples. “The Language of God” ads are part of the UCC’s “God is Still Speaking” campaign that invites viewers to an open and affirming denomination. The ads depict an array of life experiences and identities including two women being married, gay men with their child and other positive images.

The first series of UCC ads, “The Bouncer” and “UCC Ejector,” garnered media attention in 2005 after they were rejected by CBS for being “too controversial.” This year, when CBS announced a Focus on the Family ad would be would be broadcast during the Super Bowl, GLAAD issued a Call to Action, and many groups asked CBS to air the UCC ads.

1. Another small step towards Gay rights!!! That's the third in two days!
With Obama's decision to oblige hospital to allow partners visitation rights
And the overturning of the judgement against the ban on Gay couples adopting kids
And now this from the UCC!

Three small steps. . .in the right direction!
Seems like they are coming fast and furious at this point. . .and pretty soon we'll be RUNNING toward full Gay rights equality!

3. Enthusiastic K & R
I don't believe in god, but I DO believe that there are still plenty of good folks who do. I hope that Christianity is finally "in recovery". It's been drunk on the wine of its own violence (Prov. 4:17) for much too long.

Three cheers for the United Church of Christ. If they keep doing this kind of thing, I might just have to qualify my rants from now on.

4. I like seeing churches leaving hate behind. I hope more churches follow UCC's example. nt
