Pope all but endorses authenticity of Turin Shroud
"This is a burial cloth that wrapped the remains of a crucified man in full correspondence with what the Gospels tell us of Jesus," Benedict said. He said the relic — one of the most important in Christianity — should be seen as a photographic document of the "darkest mystery of faith" — that of Christ's crucifixion and resurrection.

The article is here.

There's no end to this guy's looniness.

3. Yeah, faith over science, why am I surprised?
It's not an obvious fake, but it's been confirmed a fake, the type of cloth not produced for nearly 1000 years after the execution and radiocarbon dating pinning it to the late Middle Ages.

However, if fools want to believe in a fake to get them through a long and lonely night, who am I to complain?

Just don't expect me to give lip service to it.

13. FWIW ...
... I still lean towards the "Jacques de Molay" interpretation but
if others prefer to believe differently, I don't view it as harmful ...

4. Why not?
Given the other nonsense these people believe, makes perfect sense that they'd fall for this fraud.
