War Can Be Profitable, if God's on Your Side
Look at this:

2 Chronicles 20

23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.
24 And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.
25 And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both RICHES with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.

No wonder Jehoshaphat was jumping. He was jumping for joy. Rich was his reward for slaying all those inhabitants. It just goes to show you that it's better to have God on your side if you're in a war.

1. War is profitable.
And God doesn't have anything to do with that.

Peace be with you.

4. I don't know. It's all in the same book, at least the one I have.
I'm paying attention, I tell you.

6. Lots of folks fighting those same wars, it seems, though.
They're just following the Bible, I guess...looking for the spoils of those wars. Thus has it always been. The Old Testament is still relevant today, and still in the same old places, too. We're still fighting there, aren't we?

9. Not any more. I used to sell mineral specimens to collectors.
I dropped that business in 2006, though.

8. Christ was in favor of war.
"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword."
-Matthew 10:34.

Matthew 5:17 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."

- So the OT is Jesus-approved.....

11. SO you only take the parts of the bible in red letters then?
Thomas Jefferson made one of those, it was very thin and represented very, very little "christianity" at all. Is that what you follow?

there, don't you think? We still seem to be fighting wars for profit. Seems like lots of folks are reading the Bible, eh? I've read it all at least half a dozen times. Those Old Testament books are full of good stories.

12. Don't forget the hypocrisy, ignorance, hatred and bigotry!
The OT is also full of horror stories too!

15. As you say ...

> Seems like lots of folks are reading the Bible, eh?

Seems to be used as a strategy document for US foreign policy.

The fall of Baghdad springs to mind ... it took them a lot longer
than three days to shift all the loot from that particular victory ...

14. No, you need to read it METAPHORICALLY.
Those folks were only *metaphorically* slaughtered and plundered.
