Bill O'Reilly: God causes the tides not the moon
Bill O tells the head of American Atheists David Silverman that he knows god exists becuase of the tides. Yep, the tides. I guess he has never heard of the moon or gravity.

Full video at the link.

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2011/1/5/933554/-Bill-OReilly:-Invisible-man-in-the-sky-causes-the-tides-not-the-moon

O’Reilly: I’ll tell you why not a scam. In my opinion, all right? Tide goes in, tide goes out. Never a
miscommunication. You can’t explain that. You can explain why the tide goes in...

Silverman: Tide goes in, tide goes out...?

O’Reilly: Yeah, see, the water — the tide comes in and it goes out, Mr. Silverman. It always goes in...

Silverman: Maybe it’s Thor up on Mount Olympus who’s making the tides go in and out...

O’Reilly: No no, but you can’t explain that... you can’t explain it...

1. Dumbass! Everyone knows that it's
the giant Octopus God at the bottom of the ocean that creates the tides. Sheesh!

6. Oh no, its no joke.
And what is even less funny is how many of his viewers also think that way.

4. silly Mr. O'reilly
Doesn't he know that it's Poseidon's tide fairies that make the tide go in and out every day?

5. I don't think O'Reilly even believes what he's saying.
If he does, he's lost it.

12. If that is the case, then he really is a dispicable human being. Even worse than we thought.

7. If someone had done that as a satirical skit
nobody would have found it believable.

8. So that's not the moon we see up there, it's a god?
Well, I O'Reilly is in the good company of many who have worshiped the moon as a god. ;-)

15. Selene is quite the goddess, indeed. It's on her account we have
mo(o)nths, Mo(o)nday, Selenium, weeks (which come from the quarters of the moon) and the date of Easter.

Nothing to do with tides, tho, I guess. :)

11. He's done this before
From 2007 interview with Richard Dawkins. He thinks it's a trap because when the godless atheist responds that tides are caused by the Moon, then he can launch into a well, where did the Moon come from, where did the Sun come from, and eventually arrive a gap for his god. Typical creationist debating tactic...

O'REILLY: I think it takes more faith to be like you, an atheist, than like me, a believer, and it's because of nature, you know, I just don't think we could have lucked out to have, the tides come in, the tides go out, the Sun go up, the Sun go down. Don't think it could have happened.

DAWKINS: We have a very full understanding of why the tides go in and the tides go out, about why the continents drift about, why life is there, science is ever more piling on the evidence, piling on the understanding -

O'REILLY: But it had to get there, I understand that, you know, the, uh, physiology of it, if you will, but it had to come from somewhere. And that is the leap of faith that you guys make. That it just happened.

DAWKINS: Well, a leap of faith. You don't actually need a leap of faith, you're the one who needs a leap of faith, because you are actually, the onus is on you to say why you believe in something. There's an infinite number of Gods you could believe in, I take it you don't believe in Zeus or Apollo or Thor, you believe in presumably the Judeo-Christian -

O'REILLY: Jesus! Jesus was a real guy, I can see him -

DAWKINS: Yeah -

O'REILLY: You know, I know what he did. And so I'm not positive that Jesus is God, but I'm throwing in with Jesus, rather than throwing in with you guys, because you guys can't tell me how it all got here. You guys don't know.

13. Ahh, so he was just baiting him?
I guess Silverman was ready for it and thats why he didn't challenge him, just made the "WTF" face and let the absurdity stand on its own.

17. Colbert did a whole routine on it last night...
Sorry I can't copy the link on my work computer, but you can find it @ ColbertNation.com....worth watching, it's hilarious. He got Neal DeGrasse Tyson of the NY museum of Natural History to be the voice of science and reason.

I don't know what O'Liely really believes, but MY firm belief is that bastard should be behind bars for Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the Dr Tiller shooting!

23. Brilliant segment on Colbert.
It also shows that O'Reilly has said this before (May 2007) in a completely serious manner.

Don't miss this clip. It's great!

O'Reilly "proves" God's existence.
