Make My Bed? But You Say the World’s Ending - Rapture prediction is splitting families
The Haddad children of Middletown, Md., have a lot on their minds: school projects, SATs, weekend parties. And parents who believe the earth will begin to self-destruct on Saturday.

The three teenagers have been struggling to make sense of their shifting world, which started changing nearly two years ago when their mother, Abby Haddad Carson, left her job as a nurse to “sound the trumpet” on mission trips with her husband, Robert, handing out tracts. They stopped working on their house and saving for college.

Last weekend, the family traveled to New York, the parents dragging their reluctant children through a Manhattan street fair in a final effort to spread the word.

“My mom has told me directly that I’m not going to get into heaven,” Grace Haddad, 16, said. “At first it was really upsetting, but it’s what she honestly believes.”

4. if that doesn't qualify as abuse
it should. it sounds like the kids are fairly straight in spite of their fucked up parents, but that's asking a lot.

9. The fact that people are predicting it indicates to me that it is not going to happen tomorrow.
My understanding is that it will happen by surprise, which means that it can't be expected at a specific time.

If I were in that situation
I'd make sure I was out of the house that day in case someone in the family snapped and decided to "help us along" with some 12-gauge prayers.

14. Your mom is crazy Grace, call a social worker quick and get yourself and your siblings out safe and
sane while you can. Dragging you through Manhattan to spread the rapture "word" and telling you that you will not get into her made up idea of Heaven........quitting her job......stopping work on the house........stopping college savings.....none of this is conducive to security, stability and sanity in the raising of well adjusted children. In my opinion, this is a definitely a form of abuse.

15. I'm just hoping that when the Rapture happens - it
Occurs at the bequest of the Real Christ, whose first question to any prospective Rapture-ee would be: "How much did you love others?"

16. Since they're not going to heaven, why not put them in foster care now?
Even crazy people should be able to plan ahead that much.
