Now this is a scary Christian.....
I was behind a car today with a vanity plate "1 Thes 3 5". I had a feeling that this was a Bible verse, and so it is.

1 Thessalonians 3:5, “For this reason, when I could stand it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith. I was afraid that in some way the tempter might have tempted you and our efforts might have been useless.”

How evangelical do you have to be to actually have a vanity plate with a Bible verse on it? I am very glad that I do not know this person....or that I did not have to flip her off.

1. I think Bible verses are best shared with those that use them based on what they want to think.
Most of the really good stuff that helped me in hard times, was not direct verses from texts.

Although that is said in a verse also, "if all the things he did were written down, not even the world could hold all the books"

So I think it is

"In the trees, the rocks, and everywhere" Just the same things seen different ways by different people. And of coarse each person should decide for themselves what they think is inspired, I could be wrong.

3. II Thes 3:5 is a much nicer verse.
Vanity plates aren't the most accurate place to record your philosophy.

But actually, I think it is a pretty ingenious place for this philosophy. A moving billboard at a fraction of the cost.

I still think it is creepy though.

14. I've never had a vanity plate, but I always have issue bumperstickers, and for years
I get flipped off from time to time by some jackass who doesn't agree with me. I mostly ignore it, but at the same time I don't much like it, so I don't give people grief about whatever weird messages they send with their autos

I don't know why anybody would choose that reference for a vanity plate, but it wouldn't even cross my mind to flip them off. Live and let live

It's Revelation. Singular. Full title, "Book of the Revelation of Saint John the Divine."

It's also a bunch of raving nonsense. Thomas Jefferson was probably right - some god-besotted loony just had a bad nightmare and wrote it down before he forgot it.

The only interesting parts are the allegedly coded messages about the Roman empire, e.g., "666" referring to Nero. But then, if that bleeding-heart liberal Nero only had a few more lions, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

12. Why not quote "Pale Blue Dot" chapter and verse?
I find a lot more wisdom in that than I would a letter written by a gnostic with triple meanings, all of which are based on an amalgam of world religions, written at a time when the world was flat, women had no souls, slavery was legal, and blasphemy could get you killed.

15. I was dumbfounded too. I mean, of all the books that are usually quoted,
this was a new one. I sort of recognized it as a Bible quote, but did not even know it was "Thessalonians" until I researched it.
