DC Attorney General Says AIDS Money Spent On Strip Club, Lawsuit Seeks One Million Dollars In Damages

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) -- There's pretty much no mistaking what goes on at 2127 Queens Chapel Road in Northeast Washington: It's a strip club. A high-end strip club, but a strip club nonetheless.

The problem with that, according to the DC attorney general, is that it's supposed to be a job training center for people with AIDS and HIV.

In a lawsuit filed today, DC Attorney General Irv Nathan is suing the former owner of the property, convicted drug dealer Cornell Jones, and Jones's non-profit organization, Miracle Hands. http://www.miraclehands.org/

The lawsuit alleges that back in 2006, Jones received more than three-hundred thousand dollars from the city's HIV/AIDS program. The Attorney General says the money was supposed to be used to build a job training center for AIDS patients, but that Jones instead used the money to build a strip club, which now goes by the name Stadium Club.

1. I love this city...
Though I have to question the idea that anything in that part of town is "high-end"

Anyway, shows you that this faith-based stuff is just a scam.

5. There was a bit of a double entendre there but
If you have a choice between two businesses where people give you all their money and get absolutely nothing in return, why not open up the one that pays better? And treats people better, too.

PS, this from a NON-denominational Christian who understands the purpose of erecting a $2 Million building and calling it a "Church."

8. Teach a man to put all his money into the "collection plate" and his entire family starves
The Pope lives in a golden "apartment" with the finest jewels, fine tapestries, expensive imported rugs, silver tea service and utensils, silk sheets and a wait staff that would make Donald Trump envious. Do you suppose that any church gives away 100% of the money collected to "the poor?"

Tell me that any organized religion is all about helping people. Well, other than helping the founders of the religion to help themselves to your dollars that is.

That is why I belong to NO "organized" RELIGION. I just read the bible and try to actually DO what it says, and not do what it says I shouldn't.

7. Well it could be both.

I'm fully aware that strippers run the gamut from cheap prostitutes to chaste PhDs, but it's hardly a profession in which one would expect to see a complete absence of HIV patients. Maybe this club recruits them and trains them for what certainly can be a high-paying job (although not if I did it).

Unlikely? Sure. Impossible? not quite...
