My book is now required reading for Interfaith Ministers !

Sorry if I'm tooting my horn... I just found out that my book is a required text book for the United Interfaith Minister Training Program! I would have had no idea, but one of the students wrote to me with questions about some things in my book.

I know there are a lot of different views on religion here at DU and I usually keep my discussions focused on politics... But anyway, fyi, my book is a focus on religion in a completely different way. Rather than focusing on the differences, I focus on the similarities. I found in my research that the similarities and bonds between the religions are far deeper than most people realize. In many cases, if you just look past all the curruption and politicing that has taken place over the years, and try to go back to the original teachings, you find they share a lot.

One of the reasons I wrote the book is because I was getting frustrated at all the fighting, wars, and such about whose God is the real God, when in fact most of the religions refer to the same God, if you strip away the nomenclature and try to look and what they are referring to rather than the names they use.

I know there are many folks here at DU that are frustrated about the way religion is used to manipulate people and cause wars, rather than inspire spirituality, which is its real purpose.

We are universalists, honoring all paths, and "one religion" themes are very popular in our church. This fits in extremely well.

You need to take the design on your book cover and make a bumpersticker.
