I'm not sure whether I post Jerry Falwell's Sunday Morning
"Old Time Gospel Hour here or under GENERAL POLITICS. Please give me your opinion based on his opening statements behind his pulpit this morning.

"MERRY CHRISTMAS" not "HAPPY HOLIDAYS" but "MERRY CHRISTMAS" to all of you here watching in this building and across the nation. Yeah, these are exciting times. (A box appears under Falwell stating "Today's Message . . . The Fight To Save Christmas."

Then he goes into a diatribe of why he believes that 2006 will be the year of the return of the Lord. He also says he is not predicting it because that is forbidden. He also is not saying when it will happen by putting a date on it; however, the signs are all there.

Then why the heck is he bringing up the year 2006

(I can add that part of the transcript later if any of you want to read what the "Prophet Falwell" is saying now.

Anyway, that lasted maybe 5-6 minutes about the signs and how they are coming about, and then we are right back to how he HATES from behind his pulpit.

If Falwell would preach and not be so political, he would really have an enjoyable service

. . . World-wide terrorism, Global Terrorism; and nothing gets me hotter when I hear about the Ted Kennedy's, and the Chuck Shulmers, and the "Hillary Clintons. Hillary is now kinda getting on the president's bandwagon because she wants to be president in '08, but I don't trust her as far as I can throw a bull by the horns (applause from the congregation). . . and, and I've watched and I've seen all these anti-war people . . . these anti-war people. We've forgotten 9/11. Two weeks, six-weeks after 9/11, we could have put a militia together anywhere in America, and headed for where ever the Al Quaida was. . . "

more to come if you want to hear it.

General Politics or Religion???????

5. Because they would lose their base & donations
if the Lord does not arrive on date they predicted.

7. IMO, I think he says that because in the Bible it states that NO
man will know the day or the time. Also, something about beware of all of the false prophets.

I may be wrong; however, I would think that is what he is talking about?????????????

2. IMHO, Falwell's "sermons" are politics in religion's clothing...
...meaning this belongs in Politics.

8. Thanks Friday's Child. I was leaning that way too since the
majority of his morals are definitely Republican, and he uses the pulpit of his church to lead his Religious Right and Moral Majority into the bowels of the truely evil doers in their attempt to for World Domination.

See PNAC.

3. General Politics or Religion?
That's just the problem with people like Falwell -- they should be 'religion' but they're preaching pure politics.

"Two weeks, six-weeks after 9/11, we could have put a militia together anywhere in America, and headed for where ever the Al Quaida was. . . "

Apparently Mr. Falwell doesn't remember that that's exactly what we did do, when we went into Afganistan: we headed for 'where Al Qeada was'. They weren't in Iraq.

"... he believes that 2006 will be the year of the return of the Lord, but not predicting it, because that is forbidden." I guess the Lord doesn't want to hear about 'arbitrary deadlines' either.

As for his "Fight to Save Christmas", I have a suggestion for Mr. Falwell and his followers: Instead of putting your money into the 'collection plate' over at Falwell's place this season, why not contribute it to those who are poor and homeless this Christmas -- kind of like Mary, Joseph and Jesus were?

4. This isn't religion
This is political activism with a thin crust, a very thin crust of religion.

6. Agreed
This is all politics spun around with a religious tone.

9. This was just an average show as well. The closer it gets to
elections, the man loses his friggin mind.

I'll post the remainder of his show from last Sunday tomorrow (if you can stand it).

Thanks for all that posted and I agree, it belongs in GENERAL POLITICS and I will finish it up there. It's unreal . . . and pathetic.
