Tort Reform EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN in Exodus 23:6
Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 11:23 AM by NAO
OK, it doesn't get any clearer than this. Maybe someone should make bumper stickers or something.

Exodus 23:6 (New International Version)
6 "Do not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits.

**I owe this insight to Katherine Yurica. In her article "The Blood Guilty Churches" she analyzes the policies of the Bush Administration, the Republican Party, and the Religious Right with the teachings of the Bible. She has documented hundreds of such examples of Bush policies which are in clear violation of straightforward teachings in the Bible.

1. In the post 9/11 version it reads:
If the poor should lose a limb or an eye as a result of a faulty product - fuck them, they're poor.

6. I need to take some time to re-write the Beatitudes for my
post 9-11 Bible.

There's a few religious fundies at the office who won't be appreciating my sense of humor.

2. But all fundies use the poorly translated King James Version...

And it's language is "Thou shalt not wrest the judgment of thy poor in his cause."

Yes, it means the same thing, but these people have not even a passing relationship with honesty.
