Crucifixion Makes a Comeback in Ecuador
I posted this in GD yesterday, but it really belongs in R/T.
From the WFMU "Beware of the Blog".

Crucifixion Makes a Comeback in Ecuador

Our deevolution continues: stumbled across this incredible photo of an Ecuadoran man being "punished" for theft. From the militaryphotos.net site:

Mario Quishpe shouts as villagers burn his legs after allegedly being caught stealing in Pelileo Grande, Ecuador, some 75 miles south of Quito, Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006. A parish priest, along with other villagers, managed to extinguish the flames before he was taken by police to the hospital where his burns were treated. 1. thats horrible
what disturbs me most is the people standing around watching. Their are children in the background.

3. Seems to me more like the rise of vigilantism...evidence of a failed state
rather than anything religious.

9. "Hey Torquemada -- What do you say?"
"I just got back from the auto-da-fé ,
auto-da-fé What’s the auto-da-fé?
It’s what you oughtn’t to do but you do anyway. "

"How we doing. Any converts today?
Not a one Nay Nay Nay
We’ve flattened their fingers
We’ve branded their buns
Nothing is working
SEND IN THE NUNS

(the big finish)

The Inquisition (What a show)
The Inquisition (Here we go)
We know you’re wishing that we’d go away
So come on all you heathens and you Jews
We got some good news for all of yous
You’d better change your point of views today
Cause the inquisitions here and it’s here to say."
