Showdown at Chavez Ravine
Most of you have probably noticed the Dodgers stumbling a bit lately. At the same time the Rockies are red hot. Now the Rockies come to Dodger Stadium for 3 games. This is a golden opportunity for the Rock-heads to gain some ground before Manny is back on Friday. If they don't take advantage of it now with a sweep they may never get a better chance to get back in the race. I'm on the edge of my seat.

1. Well there's always the wild card
Honestly, I think that's what the Giants and Rox will be gunning for, if anything.

3. Yes I did notice some stumbling
so much so that a Mariner team, that you referred to as "hapless" after Friday's game, took 2 out of 3.

In fairness, the Mariners are anything but "hapless", not only do they appear to be a legitimate contender, but going into tonight's play..they've taken over the lead, from your Dodgers, for the best team ERA in baseball.

5. Their pitching better be good, they're 29th in runs scored
ahead of only the hapless Padres.

6. round 1 goes to the heroes in blue
4-2 in 13 innings and I breathe a sigh of relief. The Rockies go 0-the night with RISP. While 8 Dodgers hurlers share 17 strikeouts. How about Jeff Weaver striking out the side in the 10th with runners at first and third and nobody out? How about Ubaldo Jiminez getting a brain cramp by balking 2 runners over after thinking that batter Randy Wolf had called time when the umpire had not given him time only to be followed by a two out two run single by Wolf to tie the game? I'm loving this.

btw, GREAT job by former Dodger's skipper Jim Tracy. He took a Rockies team that was 15 games out and really turned them around!

8. Game 2 goes to the hated Rockies
Marquis almost pitched a perfect game, a complete game shutout giving up just two singles and throwing only 86 pitches.

In other new, Manny is back on Friday!!! :toast:

9. ....and game 3 goes to the heroes in blue
1-0. What a great pitching duel between Jason Hamel and Clayton Kershaw. The whole series was a pitching clinic. The Dodgers only scored 5 runs total in the three games but still won two of three. The Rockies also only scored 5 runs total and the Dodgers' hurlers struck out 39 Rockies in the three games (in 31 innings).
