Lincecum named NL All-Star starter
As it tries again for its first win in the Midsummer Classic since 1996, the NL could not have called on a hotter pitcher to get it off to an encouraging start.

The league's reigning Cy Young Award winner -- a distinction that doubtless gave him an edge for this honor over Arizona's Dan Haren -- Lincecum is 10-2 on the season, including a streak in which he has won 10 of 11 decisions and posted a 1.96 ERA since his first couple of rough outings of the season.

"He wasn't at full strength to start the season. That was evident," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy. "Once he got that back, he has been on an unbelievable roll. He's pitching as well as I have seen anybody pitch in my years of playing and managing. He has got to be considered one of the best, if not the best, pitchers in the game right now."

1. More on Tim's great honor..
The previous Giants starting pitchers were Hall of Famers Carl Hubbell (1934) and Juan Marichal (1965 and 1967), along with Vida Blue (1978), Rick Reuschel (1989) and Jason Schmidt (2003).
