The Giants' humiliation grows.
First they go 2-4 on the last homestand, now they are 1-2 against the lowly AA Mets with one more to play tomorrow. A few weeks ago the Giants were riding a hot streak and gaining on the Dodgers. Now they are fading fast and their vaunted pitching is beginning to show cracks and fatigue. I'm calling TKO on their season right now. Mark it in stone and get those golf clubs ready for October!

1. Sometimes I wonder about you
Your comment that "their vaunted pitching is beginning to show cracks and fatigue" is pure BS:

Giants Pitching

ERA-3.51 (1st in MLB)

CG-10 (1st in MLB)

SHO-15 (1st in MLB)

SO-914 (1st in MLB)

BP ERA-3.40 (1st in MLB)

Had enough? The Giants problem isn't their pitching, it's the same as it's been all year...a lack of offensive production.

2. Cain and Timmy no wins in last two starts
they are losing ground recently to the Dodgers in K's and ERA. Brian Wilson just blew a save the other day. That's some of the cracks I have been seeing. I pay close attention to what the Giants are doing. Always have. You should be glad I'm actually complimenting the Giants that these few things represent "cracks" in an otherwise terrific pitching staff. Yeah, they still need help with hitting, but getting Velez back and adding Sanchez has been a big boost for them. Pitching has been part of the problem recently, there's no question.

4. Apparently you don't pay enough attention

You know Lincecum was robbed of a win by the umpire..and in this bad run they've been on, losing 5 of 7, they've given up 4 runs or less in 3 of the losses (4, 3, and 3).

When the stats are on your side, you'll have a point...but as of right now, the Giants still have far and away the best pitching staff in baseball.

It's just difficult to win when you're 29th in scoring runs.

On edit: as for Cain and Lincecum:

Lincecum 2.19 ERA (1st in MLB)

Cain 2.49 ERA (4th in MLB)

6. No read my post again
"beginning to show cracks" Must I spell it out for you? Season stats are not the point. I'm talking about RECENT downturns in their pitching. As evidenced by your own post a few days ago, you showed Cain in third position in ERA. Now he is fourth. Both his and Timmy's ERA have gone up. The Dodgers have gained ground in K's also. Will this trend continue? I don't know, but my OP point is still valid. Frankly, I think the the Giants have had their run and now it's all downhill from here to October.

But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

7. Timmy's ERA has gone up?
Edited on Mon Aug-17-09 09:37 AM by Upton
No it hasn't...He's 6-1 with a 1.53 ERA in his last 10 starts. In his last 4 starts he's given up a TOTAL of 4 ER in 32.2 IP, an ERA of 1.12...awful hard for your ERA to go "up" when you're pitching like that.

Now Cain has had a couple outings that are not up to his standards recently, most notably a week ago Sunday against the Reds....so you're 1 out of 2.

50% ain't bad for a Dodger fan...it's been my experience they readily accept mediocrity.

11. *ahem*
As I said Timmy the Goat's ERA has gone up..... 2.37 No longer #1.

And so the Giants continue their downward trek. Now 2 games back in the wild card. The Braves are hot right now, also. Two games back of the small men and I predict will pass them in the next week or two. Yep, the Dwarves are fading, much like Bruce Bochy's career. 55 years of FAIL going on 56. How humiliating.

3. I told you over a month ago that this series would do some serious damage
To Frisco's playoff hopes.

Apparently you're not going to admit I was correct on that.

That's OK. There are plenty of others that I'm sure can vouch for me on that.

Enjoy the choke.

You guys suck ass.

5. Are you permanently nuts..
or is this just a temporary condition?

When the Mets series started on Friday, the Giants were 1.5 games back in the WC..at the end of play today, they're exactly the same 1.5 games back.

Whoa...that's some "serious damage" all right.

handely if you have post season plans is not putting a dent into your playoff hopes? Good luck head to head against Colorado in a few days ON THE ROAD.
