Wright rejoins Mets, says head feels better
AP, Monday, August 17, 2009

David Wright is feeling better and expects to play again this season.

The New York Mets' All-Star third baseman was back at Citi Field on Monday, two days after he was hit flush on the helmet by a 94 mph fastball from San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain.

Wright was diagnosed with a concussion and spent Saturday night in a hospital before being released Sunday. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list for the first time in his career.

Wright said he was embarrassed to be on the DL, but confident he'll return to the Mets' injury-depleted lineup this year.

Local (SF) programming showed Cain and Wright meeting on the field before today's game. Guess I am among the few who post here that believes Cain did not intentionally aim at Wright's head.

1. I'm glad he feels better
I also think it was a good move to put him on the DL. That way he'll keep feeling better.

2. I don't think that the hit was intentional...
But Caine still acted like an ass about it by tipping his cap as he left the field.

I know that he was acknowledging the Giants fans behind their dugout, but still - it certainly didn't make him look very remorseful.
