Brett Favre arrives in Twin Cities to sign with Vikings
http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/53568572.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aU1yDEmP:QMDCinchO7DU

Brett Favre will be a Viking after all.

Three weeks after the future Hall of Fame quarterback told the Vikings he had decided to remain retired, he arrived in Minnesota and prepared to sign a contract at Winter Park.

Favre and his wife, Deanna, landed at Holman Field in St. Paul and were picked up by Vikings coach Brad Childress at 11:30 a.m.

The scene at Winter Park was a zoo, with television trucks and dozens of cars crowded the road outside the Eden Prairie complex.

Favre is expected to practice with the Vikings today and start in Friday's home preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Favre will receive a one-year, $12 million deal, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Favre's agent, Bus Cook, said in a text message the contract is not yet in place. That, however, is likely going to be a formality.

..snip

I guess that's that!

1. And Lions fans exhale a huge sigh of relief! No longer will they be the
only team to have gone 0-16!

3. If they win one game, it'llbe a miracle!
And what worthless, flea-bitten team do you root for?

6. Washington....
BTW, the pre-season rarely reflects how they play in the regular season.

8. You're right, that's why I don't pay attention to pre-season...it only
matters who the Redskanks do in pre-season...if they suck, they will suck in the regular season, if they're good in pre-season, they will suck in the regular season.

13. Last time they won the SB, they went 0-4 in the pre-season
and the year they sucked under Spurrier they went 4-0. I rarely watch them pre-season cause of it...
BTW, 3 SB trophies is nothing to sneeze at dude.

10. If they go .500, then Brett will retire and un-retire and haunt some other team...
...0-16 and he's gone for good!

4. Joey the Vikings have a pretty strong roster
They were an 8-8 team before signing Farve. If he does well they just might win 9 or 10 games.

9. He'll take away those 8 games!
He can't last a season...at crunch time he'll fall apart again.

12. At Favre's age, his physical skills will be decreasing at an exponentially increasing rate
He has declined more from 2008 to 2009 than he did from 2007 to 2008. Everyone keeps saying that he looked good at the beginning of 2008. Well that was last year, and that was before his surgery. Sure, he'll have some good games, but look for him to wear down as the season progresses and as he takes more hits.

14. They went 10-6 last year, and added some really good pieces with the draft
plus they have a pretty soft schedule, my Nostradamusing for the season had them at aroun 11 wins, with Favre I'd lean towards 13-3.

Of course, as they say, you still have to play all the games.

My take is Favre will probably have a pretty good year--just like did last year, until it got cold. Inside the Humpty dome, that's not much of an issue.

19. More like 9-7
Edited on Tue Aug-18-09 01:40 PM by NJmaverick
if you recall the Giants gave the Vikings the last game by resting their starters in the seond half (amazingly the Giants second string almost beat them)

Edit to add I am looking over this year's schedule. It is looking like things could play out the same way it did last year. The Giants could be the differnce between 9-7 and 10-6

5. I want to hit him in the knee with a baton.
Kerrigan his knee but good.

And Childress, sometimes the Tree of Victory needs a branch to fall on your thick, numb skull!

17. He's starting on Friday? WTF???
Like he's going to get the timing of the offense down in two days? No way.

18. I'm hopefully optimistic, but then I always am before the season.
I'm hoping Brett can pull just one more decent year outta him. But if he gets into his throwin ints much of the year all bets are off. With the Vikings D keeping them in games plus a favorable schedule any improvement on offense could put 'em over the top. No way Jackson or Sage was gonna get us close to the NFC title game let alone win it.

23. Favre can't play worth crap in domed stadiums.
Never could. Bad move by the Vikings. Why did they pick up this drama boy?

I used to like Brett Favre, but his act has really worn thin.
