Wright, Cain discuss beaning, shake hands
NEW YORK -- Two days after a scary beaning that put him on the disabled list with a concussion, David Wright returned to Citi Field on Monday and met with the man who threw the pitch: Matt Cain.

Wright already had received calls and texts from the Giants pitcher, conveying the right-hander's regret that his 0-and-2 pitch in Saturday's game had veered into the All-Star third baseman's helmet. Wright spent Saturday night in a hospital for observation, but by Monday was able to return to the ballpark.

When he met with the Giants pitcher, the discussion included an extended hand and a pat on the shoulder.

"He said, 'I understand it was an accident,'" said Cain, who was doing conditioning work on the field when he and Wright came together.

During a news conference held to discuss his status following the incident, Wright made it clear he had no concerns about Cain's intent with the pitch.

2. Both are,
sometimes things like this happen. They both realized it was just one of those times.

3. Right. Mmmmmhmmm
Matt Cain, a control pitcher with better than 2-1 strikeout to walk career ratio, suddenly loses control and throws right at a guy's head just a couple innings after Pablo Sandoval was thrown at. Oooookay. If you believe that I have some swamp land in Florida you might be interested in investing in. It's called Land Shark Stadium.

4. Sandoval got hit in that game
but after Wright was hit.

At the time the incident took place, Cain had an 0-2 count on little Davey with a runner on first and nobody out in a tie game. To suggest he was trying to hit Wright are the thoughts of a fool, or a Dodger fan, though it's been my experience they are usually one in the same.

6. He was really ashamed of that given his sarcastic tip of the hat to the fans
not to mention you cheering the act for two days on the board.
