Bonifacio's bunt hit has Florida within three of MLB record
HOUSTON -- The Marlins continue to hit their way into history.
On Wednesday night, pinch-hitter Emilio Bonifacio bunted the Marlins into more elite company.
For the 15th straight game, the Marlins recorded at least 10 hits, becoming the first team since the 1937 St. Louis Browns to reach that mark.
With two outs in the seventh inning against the Astros at Minute Maid Park, Bonifacio reached on a bunt single to the right side. Houston reliever Jeff Fulchino tried to make a play, but stumbled and didn't make a throw.
The youthful Marlins are standing beside some legendary, and a couple of defunct, teams. They join the Browns (July 15-27, 1937), Tigers (June 20-July 9, 1936), Washington Senators (June 8-25, 1933) and New York Giants (June 11-23, 1929).
