Punters hitting the scoreboard at Cowboys Stadium (?)

ARLINGTON, Texas -- I'm about a mile away from Jerry Jones' new football palace, which will host its first preseason game in a little less than two hours. AFC South blogger Paul Kuharsky has been holed up preparing for this momentous occasion.

I'm now hearing reports the Titans' two punters are banging kicks off the bottom of the stadium's 60-yard long digital scoreboard. That's not a good sign. What happens if a punt hits the roof or scoreboard at a stadium?

I'm pretty sure it's a dead ball and you play the down over. Am I right?
