Giants put Freddy Sanchez on DL
As anticipated, the Giants placed second baseman Freddy Sanchez on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a strained left shoulder and recalled infielder Ryan Rohlinger from Triple-A Fresno.

Sanchez had hoped to return during last weekend's Colorado series, but his shoulder never responded. His DL assignment was made retroactive to Tuesday, Aug. 18, since he last played on the previous day. He'll be available to leave the disabled list Sept. 2, when the Giants are playing a series in Philadelphia.

For the second time in a week, Sanchez, who San Francisco acquired July 29 from Pittsburgh to bolster the club's offense, apologized to the fans and the organization.

1. He apologized for being injured?
:wtf:

I'm just curious how long the injury had been hampering him. Not blaming the smallmen's franchise.

(Unless it's an issue with the roids).

2. Yeah...
this is what he said late last week:

If I could talk to the fans, I'd apologize. Apologize to the fans, apologize to the organization, apologize to my teammates that I was brought here for a reason, to help their season, and I apologize for not being out there. It's as hard for me as anyone else, and I feel there's nothing I could do about it."

He supposedly hurt his shoulder in batting practice, then aggravated it when he up for a high throw.

3. someone should have asked about the clause in his contract
that gives him a big bonus for 600 AB's. This stint on the DL may put a damper on that.

But I still do like Freddie. Good ballplayer.

Maybe the Giants should void that clause and pay him anyway.
