Matt Cain dishes up back to back jacks to Helton and Tulo
That makes it 3-1 Rockies currently. This has turned out to be a good series to see which of them can be the team to have the honor of bending the knee to the mighty Dodgers.

2. Onceuponalife probably doesn't want to get into that
he was proclaiming the Giants "done" last Monday.

The Wild Card is up for grabs and admittedly the Rockies have the easier schedule, though they still have to play 3 more in San Francisco, but the Giants are anything but "done"

3. Have anything more to say about Lincecum and the Giants?
Edited on Sun Aug-30-09 10:30 PM by Upton
You've been awfully quiet these past 3 days..

It's embarrassing when you prematurely proclaim a team's finished and they prove you wrong, isn't it?

Perhaps next time, to save yourself further humiliation, it would be best if you waited until the games are actually played.

Edit: 8 shutout innings by Lincecum on Friday (ERA now 2.33), 8 1/3 by Zito on Saturday (ERA 2.06 since All Star break)...not bad for a team with cracks in their veneer, huh?

4. I've been quiet?

I've been pretty busy in GD and other DU forums, you know, those places where real debate takes place? Funny, I've never ever seen a post from you other than in sports.

"It's embarrassing when you prematurely proclaim a team's finished and they prove you wrong, isn't it?"

The season's not over yet, is it? I haven't been proven wrong.

"Perhaps next time, to save yourself further humiliation, it would be best if you waited until the games are actually played."

You could take your own advice. Douche.

And then Matt Cain has a horrible game and his ERA goes up. I guess that evens it up.

btw, the Dodgers had 20 Ks today in 12 innings. Better watch out, they've already taken over the ERA lead and now gaining on strikeouts.

5. Proclaiming that a team is "done"
when they fall 4 games back, infers that they're not going to make up that ground anytime during the rest of the season. Yes, things looked bad, but you prematurely wrote their obituary..You've been proven wrong in less than a week.

Matt Cain gave up 4 ER runs in 6 IP, not his best but certainly not "horrible." Most importantly he gave his team a chance to win, which to you're everlasting chagrin, they did. You want to see horrible?...Check out Chad Billingsley, remember you were touting him to start the All Star game..LOL, since the break he's gone 3-5 with an ERA of 5.26. His start(s) should be interesting come playoff time.

You know it must be rough living in Northern California and hating the Giants and 49ers...maybe you ought to look into going back to SoCal where you belong.

6. I was predicting they would not make the playoffs
I still stand by that. Looking at the remaining schedule, in my mind they are done. Mileage may vary but I haven't been proven wrong until they actually clinch a playoff spot. Sorry if you misunderstood me.

For Matt Cain, 4 runs and 8 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings is horrible. For a normal pitcher it wouldn't be, but he's been pretty unhittable this year. His teammates bailed him out. He could easily have taken a loss. That was a stirring slam by Renteria, I have to admit. I was happy; it gave the Dodgers a 6 game lead. Thank you Gnats, now go back to losing.

7. To expect an athlete to be near perfect day in and day out is unrealistic.
You have bad days, no doubt. So did Matt Cain. He'll bounce back.

10. What do you mean by that?
I don't do daily Dodger threads whether they win or lose. I let their play on the field pretty much speak for itself. But you can't deny me the pleasure of gloating when misfortune strikes the Giants with all the shit I've had to put up with from douche 1 and douche 2.

14. I suspected as much
but apparently you're having trouble with your vision. Responding to the wrong post is some evidence of that.

Also, I'm around easily 90% of the time when the Giants lose, including the the terrible 14th inning loss 8 days ago, defending them by myself against multiple attacks from those who, in most cases, appear to know very little about the Giants or the NL West. In fact, their only wish is to see me squirm when the Giants lose.

Actually, I probably shouldn't indulge such nonsense, but I do..so it's my cross to bear, something I do quite adequately. It also renders any BS charges you make about me disappearing to the dustbin of sports forum history, where just about everything else you claim resides.
