Poll question: Best Basketball Player Ever: Wilt Or Jordan?
<3 Russell, Robertson, and a few others, but no-one besides Wilt and Jordan are seriously involved in such a discussion.

Personally, I switch between the two. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I say Wilt. The other half of the week, Jordan.

1. Wilt...mainly because him playing was when I was a kid...
...you always have better memories of your sports idols when you were a kid as opposed to more current players.

2. Bill Russell has ten world championships. Jordon is the closest at six.

3. True. Tom Heinsohn also has more rings than Jordan.

4. Not exactly my point. I think Russell was just as dominant as either Wilt
or Jordan. Russell was dominant on both offense and defense and didn't need to score the exorbitant amount of points that Wilt or Jordan did.

6. He wasn't.

There is no doubt that Russell certainly had Wilt's number distressingly often, though. lol!

And if # of rings wasn't your point, then you shouldn't have brought it up.

Characterizing Wilt as just a point scorer demonstrates that you should have selected the 3rd poll option.

Sam Jones got 9 rings.

5. Supporting Cast
Sure the players like Russell, Jordan, and many other greats contribute the most to their team's success but no one can win without solid players around them. Russell had great players such as Bob Cousy, Dave Cowens, Heinsohn, Bill Sherman, etc. around him like Jordan had great players around him as well.

9. Megadittoes on Bill Russell

He's The Man X 10. I got to see him play several times at the funky old, late lamented Boston Garden when I was a kid, and of course listened to Johnny Most on the radio call dozens of the games Russell was in (usually while I should have been doing homework). Russell was the master of the game, and he gets my vote.

7. Magic Johnson
Hands down. The man could, and did, play all five positions and along with Larry (Legend) Bird, saved the NBA. And Oscar Robertson was better than either Jordan or Chamberlain too. So was Bill Russell. Big O was averaging triple doubles before anyone cared about them and Russell only changed the sway the game was played. Jordan was a great one, but not the greatest.
