Double play to be bought into cricket
For us kiwis, Australians, English, West Indians, Pakistainis, Indians, Sri Lankans, South Africans, has anyone heard the rumuor that starting next year, they will bring in a double play rule for one day matches?

Well in cricket you can only get one out on one ball (one pitch) they want to bring in the double play rule, so say if an outfielder takes a catch, he can also throw down the stumps (base) before the other batsman get there for the second out.

I wont go into the LBW rule. :-)

2. as a british cricket fan can you eplain....
what a double play is, it is not a term i am familiar with then again i've always thought the 1 day game was way too short. You really need a good 5 day test for some peace and quiet away from the family.

3. yes tests are better
Basically a double play means you can get two outs on one ball. It will come into play if there is a run out, you could get both batsmen out of thier crease. If there is a catch and the other batsman is not in his crease you are able to run him out also.
