I hate opening at home, and last night showed why. Instead of playing their style of hockey they were too worried with playing fancy to put on a show for the home town crowd. They hardly hit anyone at all, they never got their deep forecheck going (credit to the Caps defensemen on this, as they moved the puck quickly and cleanly out of their zone all night), and they played with zero grit. They didn't play Boston hockey in the slightest. The B's can play an up tempo game with the best of them, but not if they don't play physical at the same time. You're not going to outskate a team like the Caps unless you hit, and the B's played a soft physical game last night. They need to forget about putting on a show and just play their game, and they will.

The Caps played loose all night, and that's the benefit of starting on the road. If you can withstand the first ten minutes when the home team is going to be fired up you'll be a great shape for the rest of the game. Sure enough, the B's carried the play for the first 8 minutes or so, but the Caps dictated play after that until late in the game when it was already decided. The Caps played smart hockey last night, and it's why they're one of a half dozen teams in the East with a legitimate chance to win the Cup.

...you should know I really don't follow hockey...I just want them to win because the other teams in the city are SOOOOOOOOOOO Successful!

One of the reasons I really don't like hockey or basketball is the unbelievable length of their postseasons. For crying out loud.
